futon_critic: entertainment news

These days, American television is like one of the nonviable alien/Ripley clones in Alien: Resurrection -- on the one hand doomed and flailing toward some end-state that will blur the line between life and death-- but at the same time, it's as fat and sassy as ever.

Or, to use another metaphor, TV is like driving past an awful car accident-- you just have to look.

And to help you look into the 30fps horror of it all, here is futon_critic. It's news items about the TV biz. Some of it will be about your favorite shows being renewed, cancelled, awarded, etc., and some of it will be breathtakingly inane.

Some recent stories, as a sample:

Live at the San Diego Comic-Con: Sci Fi's 'Battlestar Galactica'

Kiefer Sutherland, Natalie Portman, Michael Imperioli, Joe Pantoliano, Joe Mantegna, The White Stripes, Dr. Phil Mcgraw, Fran Drescher, Richard Lewis, Jon Lovitz, Betty White, Harry Hamlin and Eric Idle are among guest voices next season on "The Simpsons"

John Walsh and "America's Most Wanted" to broadcast from the White House for signing of sex offender legislation that will change the landscape of victim protection, Saturday, July 29, on Fox

Tina Fey announces on The Tonight Show she will not return to Saturday Night Live's 'weekend Update' in the fall
